Concrete Dunks. Art.
From mid June 2004 and over the course of 4 months, in the middle of the limited edition sneaker craze, I single-handedly made and secretly placed 10 pairs of concrete Nike Dunk replicas in front of some of the world’s most high profile sneaker boutiques in North America and Europe.
Afterwards I documented what happened to them. Some of the shops took the shoes inside and put them on display even though they did not have any idea what they were. I kept a close watch on the internet and visited the shops from time to time.
Word of mouth travelled quickly through people travelling the world visiting these shops. One year to the day of the first placement later, I made the entire story public through one of the most popular weblogs.
